Niobium wire has a high melting point, corrosion resistance, good cold working performance, and high ductility. It is used in the processing of niobium parts, electronic equipment, high-pressure sodium lamps, etc.
Niobium exhibits superconducting properties at low temperatures. Under standard atmospheric pressure, the superconducting critical transition temperature of niobium is 9.25K, which is the highest among all metals with superconducting properties, and its magnetic penetration depth is also the highest among all elements. The purity of niobium metal can greatly affect its superconducting properties. Niobium has a very low capture cross section for thermal neutrons and is therefore used in the nuclear industry.
